This post is going to show you that sometimes, from chaos you can get clarity. Real clarity. Something that smacks you in the face and makes you sit up and take notice.
I think I always knew this, but recently things have happened to demonstrate just how impactful this can be.
I’m having a new kitchen fitted at the moment and I totally underestimated how much chaos it was going to bring to my home and my life.
I have been without a kitchen sink and dishwasher for over 2 weeks now which means I have had to resort to washing up in the bath. I know, what a hardship right. Yes I get it but kneeling on the hard tiled floor trying to wash my dishes in the tub is no fun I can tell you.
Oh, and as well as no sink, the fridge has had to be moved to the garden-room. We stuck the microwave on top of it so that, in essence, is my kitchen. A fridge with a microwave on top and a little table to the side of it with some cutlery on it.

This arrangement might have been okay when I was a student in my 20’s but in my 50’s I’m finding it all a bit of a strain.
The whole house, and I mean the WHOLE house is covered in a thin layer of plaster dust which doesn’t seem to go away no matter how many times I dust and polish so I’ve given up and just left it, which is now setting off my allergies.
I can’t find anything I need when I need it because I threw everything from the old cupboards into boxes, and they are now stacked on top of each other in the garden shed.
I just want to get back to some sort of normality – and soon! But, something good has come out of it, something I didn’t expect. Something that is going to be really helpful for me in the long run…
Because the only part of my house that has not been affected by the upheaval is my office, I have found that I have been spending most of my time in here, hiding away from the mess that has otherwise taken over my life.
But being in my office has made me focus more on my business. Sitting at my desk with no real purpose other than to escape the dust and mess has made me think about what it is that I’m trying to achieve.
I’ve been so productive over the last 2 weeks It’s amazing. I have a clear plan for what direction to take my blog in. I’ve created a new freebie to help my clients and readers – you can get it below if you’re interested, it’s to show you how to set goals you cannot fail at and it’s totally free. Just complete the form to grab your copy
I’ve also adapted one of my courses that I originally created for my business clients so that I can now help my blogging friends get started with Pinterest. This will help them to attract thousands of new visitors to their blogs each month, something I’m sure you will agree would be very useful.
Here’s one of the pins I created for it, what do you think?
Oh yes, another thing I’ve been able to get clarity on is how I promote my blog content. I have created a promotion schedule for my posts – I mean a proper one that I can promote my posts strategically instead of just in a random fashion.
I’ll let you know if it works and if I get increased viewers, and then maybe I’ll create another freebie to show you how I’ve done it.
I know for a fact that if my kitchen (and therefore whole house) wasn’t in such chaos, I wouldn’t have spent that time in my office contemplating my blog and business.
I know for a fact that next week would have been exactly the same as last week in terms of what I did and how I did it, in other words, nothing much would have changed.
Because of that chaos I now have complete clarity and can move forward with purpose and determination.
I have tweaked my goals so that they reflect my new regime and I have faith that I will now be able to achieve so much more than I would have done otherwise.
It’s amazing isn’t it, that something that you think is so bad, can in fact turn out to be something that is pretty good.
Okay. I’m off to set some new goals and revisit my vision board now that I’m thinking so clearly. I will be back in a few days to let you know how I’m getting on, and to share any new and useful tid-bits of information I have come across while travelling around the internet and social media.
To make sure you don’t miss out on anything useful (and probably free) why not subscribe to my blog and I’ll drop you a quick email when I publish anything new.
If you liked this post and it has perhaps encouraged you to look at chaos in a different way, I would love it if you would share it so that others might get to see things in a new way too. I have included some popular share icons so please just click away.
