The other day a friend of mine asked me why I started a blog in my 50’s. She hinted (although didn’t come right out and say it) that blogging was for younger people.
At the time I gave her my standard answer of wanting to be able to work from home and work at times that suited me and my family rather than times that suited someone else’s business needs.
But when I got home, I thought about it a little more and realised there are many reasons why I started a blog in my 50’s. I thought I would share them with you so that you might be inspired to start one too…
When should you get a mentor and how much should you pay for one? I hummed and ahhhed about this for months when I started my blog. There seemed to be no easy answer as everyone I asked had a different opinion.
Some said you could find everything you needed online for free. Others said that everything online was outdated and no longer relevant.
Some said that mentors were a waste of money and others said that they were worth their weight in gold. So what was I meant to do? I’m going to share what I found out too late in the hopes that you don’t make the same mistake…
A bloggers life for me. That’s what I kept telling myself as I started my first blog a few years ago. I knew I wanted a “job” that was going to enable me to work from anywhere and at any time of day or night.
I knew that I didn’t want to continue working for other people and being told what time I had to be in work by and what time I could leave. And I was always so ANNOYED when I was told I couldn’t have my holidays when I wanted them because it didn’t suit the needs of the business.
I knew there must be a better way of making a living and I started to look for one, and this is what I found…
Would you like to start a blog in 3 hours? Yep, it can be done. You will have your own domain name, your own hosting service to look after your domain and blog site and you will have some fantastic content to share with your audience.
I have created a FREE 7 day email course “Blogging Basics For Beginners” which includes a free video tutorial that talks you through the whole process, from choosing your domain name and finding your hosting service – to successfully promoting your first blog posts. Want to make some money from your blog? Yep, it shows you how to do that too.
Do you celebrate Halloween?
I know it’s a big thing in the USA and to a lesser extent we in the UK celebrate it too, but what is Halloween and where did it come from? I’ve been doing a bit of research to find out what it’s all about.
Halloween is one of the oldest celebrations in the world and is thought to have evolved from a pre-Christian festival called Samhain which was celebrated over 2,000 years ago. Samhain was celebrated by the Celts (people who lived in what is now the UK, Ireland and northern France) on 31st October each year. They believed that the dead returned to earth on this day.
This post is going to show you that sometimes, from chaos you can get clarity. Real clarity. Something that smacks you in the face and makes you sit up and take notice.
I think I always knew this, but recently things have happened to demonstrate just how impactful this can be.
I’m having a new kitchen fitted at the moment and I totally underestimated how much chaos it was going to bring to my home and my life.
I have been without a kitchen sink and dishwasher for over 2 weeks now which means I have had to resort to washing up in the bath. I know, what a hardship right. Yes I get it but kneeling on the hard tiled floor trying to wash my dishes in the tub is no fun I can tell you.
Oh, and as well as no sink, the fridge has had to be moved to the garden-room. We stuck the microwave on top of it so that, in essence, is my kitchen. A fridge with a microwave on top and a little table to the side of it with some cutlery on it.
I wanted to share with you how I improved my joint health naturally because it has literally changed my life, and I want to share this amazing find with as many people as possible.
I know that for those of you who read my blog regularly, it’s a bit off my usual track, but to be honest I am finding that when I’m talking to my clients and Facebook group, health issues and problems due to age seem to crop up quite a lot.
So me being me, and in my usual spirit of sharing what I find online, I thought I would share this gem with you too 🙂
Since my 20’s I have suffered with my knees, and as each decade passed, more joints became painful. (That’s 3 decades now in case you’re wondering).
At one point I had a ridge develop in my wrist, which I was told was repetitive strain injury from spending all day on a mouse and keyboard.
At some other point, I lost the feeling in 2 fingers which I was later told was a problem with the ulna nerve in my elbow (the funny bone) and later, I developed something that to this day hasn’t been diagnosed but it meant I couldn’t walk, swim or do pretty much anything for weeks.
Want to know to how I fixed myself in just 2 months?
How a baby boomer gets thousands of viewers to her blog is no real mystery and the best thing is you don’t have to have any special skills or pay any money. This is all stuff that you can do right now to improve your viewing figures.
Let’s face it, it’s pretty soul destroying to sit for hours writing something that you KNOW is going to be of value to someone out there. You do the research, find the images, sort the keywords and remember your tags but you still don’t seem to get as many viewers as others bloggers claim to be getting.
Are you trying to find the best goggles for long or extended eye lashes? Look no further, I’ve found some that are perfect…
As a business coach I don’t usually write about things that aren’t business related, but I’m human too and have human problems and I found a solution to that problem that I thought I could share with others who might be having similar problems…
I love swimming and find it a great way to keep fit and toned but I was having problems with my eyelashes. I have eyelash extensions and found my lashes used to rub against the lenses every time I blinked.
