Fear of failure. Most of us have, at some time or other, thought about trying to achieve something that is a little out of the ordinary for us. It might be a lifestyle change, a diet, a new career or a new business venture. So very few of us actually see this through though, why is that?

So here it is… I’ll give you the “secret”… and once you understand this, everything changes!

Beware of Free websites – they are not as cheap as you might think!
For the last year or so, I have been helping small business owners and people who want to become self-employed with their websites. I have heard some horror stories about people being ripped off or just plain misled.
If you are using a more advanced theme then you will be asked to insert the URL of your logo into the control panel of your theme builder.
Your logo can be in png or jpeg format and it is really simple to do. I have used my theme as as example but most themes will be similar enough for you to figure out the gist of it.
First of all, go to your menu and hover over Appearance. Then open up your theme’s options as shown below in blue. My theme is called MyProduct but yours will be the name of your theme followed by theme options.
Why we put off starting a business can be down to a number of factors. I have spent the last couple of years helping people to become self-employed or start their own business and these are some of the things they told me had put them off starting.
Fear of leaving their current “safe” employment.
The security that employment offers is a strong motivator to stay put. Knowing exactly how much we are going to pick up each month gives us a warm and safe feeling. We feel secure. Our families feel secure.
The reality is though, that today there is no longer such a thing as a job for life. People are being made redundant from all walks of life and those that are not made redundant then have to do the work that those who have been made redundant used to do. More staff are taking time off due to stress related issues now than at any other time.
All businesses have the same basic need – to be able to attract new customers. Unfortunately, this is one of the most difficult things for new businesses to do. There are problems like lack of advertising budget, knowing who exactly your customer is and where to find them, knowing how to go about advertising on Google or social media sites and not having the technical know how to figure it all out yourself.
I have spent the last 2 years marketing goods and services online. I have learned the basics of Bing and Google, Linkedin and Pinterest and I have mastered Facebook. I am now learning how to sell products on Amazon as a Professional Seller and getting my own brand out there. I will let you know how that goes…
The first thing you need to do when trying to attract new customers is to learn who they actually are. This might sound stupid but hear me out. You need to know how old they are, where they live, how much they typically spend, how much they typically earn and what other related goods and services are they already buying.
You might be thinking that finding all this information out will take days or weeks of research. Not true. I can work with you to find all this information out in just a few hours. It is just a question of knowing where to look.
By knowing your customer well, you will have a better idea of how to target them in your website content and advertising copy. If you try and please everyone then you will end up pleasing no-one and this is why most businesses struggle to get new customers.
