I have been asked this question by a couple of my coachees and thought it might be useful for those of you who are blogging and putting new pages onto your websites.
If you look a the url of this page you will see that it is as follows: http://lynne-thomas.com/how-to-change-the-url-of-your-page/
The default setting would be something like: http://lynne-thomas.com/?p336
This is all controlled by the “permalink” that you will see before the page title in your draft copy. Next to the link you should see an option to “change permalink”. Click on this and you will be taken to the setting page where you will see lots of options. If you can’t see it then just go to settings in your menu options on the left hand side in your dashboard and then choose permalinks from the list below. Once in the page choose the option called Post Name and click on it so that the radio button is showing checked. Then save the changes by clicking on the button at the bottom of the page.
This is important because it helps with search engine optimisation and makes it easier for Google and other search engines to find your content. It also makes your posts and pages look more professional.
If you need help just contact me and I will go through it with you.
